In a groundbreaking step toward enhancing global technical standards in Taekwondo, the Professional Taekwondo Federation (PTF), in strategic alliance with Kombat Taekwondo, has officially launched the Professional Taekwondo Technical Delegate License Program — a pioneering initiative designed to elevate event leadership and unify technical operations across the professional Taekwondo world.
This elite-level certification is now open to black belts from all Taekwondo styles, including World Taekwondo (WT), the International Taekwondo Federation (ITF), traditional Kwans, and other recognized systems. The goal: to create a new generation of globally certified Technical Delegates empowered to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, consistency, and athlete welfare.
“With the global rise of professional Taekwondo, the demand for qualified technical leadership has never been greater,” said Rick W. Shin, President of the PTF. “This license is our commitment to ensuring every sanctioned event meets world-class standards — regardless of style or affiliation.”
A Strategic Response to Global Growth
The launch of this program comes amid a major international expansion of professional Taekwondo. In 2025 alone, the PTF is expected to oversee 15+ major events, with more than 30 events projected for 2026, not including minor league competitions.
This rapid growth necessitated the creation of a professional technical infrastructure — one that ensures every event is executed with precision, fairness, and international compliance.
What is a PTF Certified Technical Delegate?
Licensed Technical Delegates will serve as the official representatives of both PTF and Kombat Taekwondo at recognized events. Their responsibilities include:
- Enforcing PTF and KT rules, protocols, and standards
- Overseeing venue setup, logistics, and technical operations
- Coordinating with organizers, referees, and coaches
- Ensuring safety procedures and athlete welfare
- Acting as liaisons between local hosts and PTF leadership
Certification will be granted by the PTF Education & Licensing Division, which will deliver in-depth training on:
- International competition rules
- Event logistics and digital systems
- Safety management and athlete protection
- Conflict resolution and professional conduct
A Unifying Vision for Taekwondo
The program reflects PTF’s and Kombat Taekwondo’s shared mission to bring together all branches of the Taekwondo world — fostering unity, transparency, and operational excellence.
“This license isn’t just a credential — it’s a global standard,” said a PTF spokesperson. “We’re equipping leaders who will shape the future of professional Taekwondo on every continent.”
