The expansion of Kombat Taekwondo in Guatemala is progressing with strength and determination, establishing itself as one of the most rapidly growing combat sports in the country. Under the leadership of Licenciada Gabriela Echeverría, President of Kombat Taekwondo Guatemala, the organization has successfully brought together a growing number of practitioners and academies that see this discipline as a unique opportunity for development and professional competition.
On Sunday, March 1, the second Training Camp took place at Gymnastica in Guatemala City. The three-hour event attracted 45 athletes aged 10 and older, marking an increase in attendance compared to the first Training Camp held in September 2024. Despite the presence of other sporting events on the same date, the enthusiasm and participation exceeded expectations.
One of the highlights of the event was the diversity of academies and combat styles that joined the initiative. Among the affiliated schools present were Kwang Gae Julio Santos ITF, Karate Solórzano, Anaconta Pit, Ohana Kenpo Karate, Águilas Jr., and Him Yong Academia de Taekwondo. Additionally, Hope Taekwondo participated for the first time, along with independent athletes eager to experience the discipline.
“The evolution of Kombat Taekwondo in Guatemala is undeniable. Each event allows us to see the growing interest, not only among athletes but also among coaches and academies eager to be part of this Taekwondo revolution,” stated Gabriela Echeverría, who has been a key figure in the sport’s expansion in the country.
The Training Camp focused on dynamic and practical exercises. Throughout the session, athletes worked on specific Kombat Taekwondo techniques and engaged in controlled sparring, allowing them to apply what they had learned in real combat situations. The intensity of the training and the high technical level demonstrated by the participants reflected their strong commitment to this innovative discipline.
“We are building a strong Kombat Taekwondo community in Guatemala. We want athletes to feel that they have a space to grow, compete, and reach international levels in this sport,” added Echeverría.
The excitement generated by this second Training Camp is already translating into anticipation for the upcoming events of the year. Kombat Taekwondo Guatemala has scheduled three league events, covering both junior and senior categories, providing more opportunities for national athletes to compete and develop their skills.
“This year will be crucial for the consolidation of Kombat Taekwondo in Guatemala. We want to continue adding schools, expanding the discipline, and positioning our athletes on the international stage,” concluded Echeverría.
Kombat Taekwondo in Guatemala continues to grow, welcoming more practitioners, coaches, and academies interested in being part of this high-impact combat sport. For more information on how to get involved, interested parties can contact Licenciada Gabriela Echeverría.
