World Taekwondo (WT), the global governing body for Olympic Taekwondo, has once again intervened directly and authoritarianly in a continental election. This time, the spotlight is on the Oceania Taekwondo Union (OTU), where a legitimate electoral process was overturned by WT in an effort to install Maher Magableh as president—a figure described by multiple internal sources as a political operative for WT President Chungwon Choue, and widely referred to in power circles as “his political lapdog.”
